After graduating classical and law classes at Università Cattolica di Milano, he graduates with full marks at Bolzano Music School playing the guitar, his teacher was E.Padovani student of Andres Segovia, Marialuisa Anido, Emilio Pujol and Ida Presti.
Plays various concerts in Europe as a soloist, with an orchestra and chamber ensembles, in 1996 he plays on tour with the Master Alirio Diaz who describes Walter as "A fantastic partner".
He was a member of Bolzano Quartet with which he participated in the tv show "Un concerto per domani", the show aired on Rai Uno.
He played various first musical performances of contemporary musical pieces dedicated to him by numerous italian composers including the Masters Chiesa, Grisi, Amitrano, Gravina, Resch, playing the pieces in some of the biggest Classical Guitar Festivals in Europe and on Spanish national radio.
He has been a teacher in Masterclasses at Bratislava's Musical Academy together with Abel Carlevaro, he later teached at Conegliano's Masterclasses as Carlos Bonell's assistant, he teached at Guitar Laboratories of Novacella and Merano, he was an artistical director of the Classical Guitar International Festival of Bolzano
He recorded the guitar pieces from the Master Angelo Lazzari for "La Guitarre" of Geneva, he later played a premiere in Geneva, the premiere was dedicated to Walter by the composer.

He collaborated with Vittorio Storaro in the movie "Mirka" with G.Depardieu and with Liliana Cavani in the tv series about A.Degasperi together with the actor Fabrizio Giffuni.
Since 1998 he works also with his 3 children in the Salin Ensemble with whom he produces shows and concerts of Reanissance and Ethnical music as well as street performances for children.
With them, he has been invited in TV shows as "Cominciamo Bene", radio shows "Rai Radio 2" and cinematographic pieces.
In 2010 he founded Elfika's Dream, with his daughter and sons, the group played mainly reanissance-pop music and Duo Salin "Tra soffi e pizzichi" with his son Giovanni who is a promising flute player.
He plays in a duo with hisson Giovanni playing Recorders and Guitar



with whom they play a setlist enriched by Vivaldi, Bach, Mussorskji and Rodrigo's unpublished transcriptions, they premiered in Paris, Köln, Bergamo. He proposes, with his daughter Chiara, theater-songs recitals

He plays with the guitar player Massimo Scattolin and with the pianists Enrico Toccoli and Donato Giupponi.
In 2014 he won the second prize at "Primo Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Chitarristica Città di Favria."
He recorded the cd "Suggestioni Barocche" for "Bergamo Chitarra" Records and the opera "13 Improvvisi Brevi" for "Net-Label" Records.
